Fallen Soldiers Honored in Country Wide Run
While not a particularly political story, CBS News ran a story yesterday about a ten week jaunt across the country -- called the Run For The Fallen -- to honor 4,129 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq.Jon Bellona, 26, from Clinton, New York came up with the idea of running a mile for each soldier killed in Iraq. Each is honored, one every mile, in the order in which they died by a placard placed on a sign or fence.
The run started on June 15 on Father's Day at Fort Irwin, California. It will pass through a dozen states before ending at Arlington National Cemetery, in Virginia, on August 24. The team will cover more than 60 miles a day, every day, for ten weeks.
The majority of the article briefly tells the stories of individual soldiers who are honored along the way.
